DIY Floral Crown

Spring fever anyone? I know I have it! I’ve been seeing floral themes everywhere these days with spring on it’s way. (Ok, maybe it’s still 2 months away, but I’m excited) I always enjoy dressing for this time of year with it’s garden themes and fresh color palettes, but this year I wanted to take it a step further. I wanted flowers for my hair. Determined to purchase a floral crown, I wasn’t able to find precisely what I wanted – delicate, monochromatic, fresh-from-the-meadow-looking. So I set out to make one myself. I found it was super simple to put together with only a small amount of materials. Here’s my step-by-step tutorial of the basics:

1. What you will need: silk flowers (with stems) in colors of your choice, two pieces of floral wire, floral tape, ribbon of your choice and wire cutters.

2. Create a semi-circle about the size of your head with the two pieces of floral wire. Wrap the floral tape around the wires in at least three places to bind them together.

3. Begin adding flowers to the wire frame by wrapping floral tape around the stems and frame.

4. Continue adding flowers to the frame until you’ve reached the amount of coverage you like. Keep about an inch of flower-free space at each end.

5. Attach the ribbon to one end of the crown with floral tape. Wrap the ribbon loosely around the crown in a circular direction until you reach the other end. Finish by wrapping the ribbon to the end of the crown with tape.

6. Tie the ribbon ends in a bow or knot and trim to the desired length. Voila! You have a floral crown!

The finish product was very affordable and simple to wear. Audrey loves to try it on and even dresses up her stuffed animals with it. However you use it, it’s just fun to have!

Love,
